A great opportunity has created with a RIBA Chartered Architectural Practice based Chelmsford. They specialise in delivering quality consultancy, design, and service.They are highly experienced in a variety of backgrounds ranging from housing, commercial, education, leisure, mixed-use developments, listed buildings and conservation, and major urban design schemes. They are based in colourful vibrant offices and encourage creative input and collaboration.
Working alongside other Architects and Technologists, you will be expected to create detailed drawings, working drawings and produce planning applications for several projects as well as producing 3D technical drawings, assisting other colleagues and attending site visits. In addition you will work on a wide range of projects from one-off housing to major residential/mixed-use developments from concept to technical design.
Duties include
Manage project from start to finish, ensuring high quality, innovative and functional design.
Identify the surveys (g. land surveys) and input from external consultants required before work can commence, ensuring they’re undertaken and their results are fed into the project
Evaluate and advise on environmental, legal, and regulatory issues.
Putting together a brief to identify clients’ needs and put together feasibility reports and design proposals.
Develop ideas and concept design, keeping in mind the client’s needs, building’s usage and environmental impact.
Produce detailed drawings / documentation sufficient for the submission of planning applications.
Compile project specifications
Keep within budgets and timelines.
Ensure that all works are carried out to specific standards, building regulations, guidelines, and regulations.
Carry out site visits to check on project progress and report on project.
Cooperate and liaise with construction professionals.
Follow architectural trends and advancements.
Lead the detailed design process and coordinate design information.
Advise clients on procuring the best and most appropriate contracts for the work they are undertaking.
Liaise with appropriate authorities (g. local authorities planning departments and building inspectors) when producing documentation for statutory approval
Produce, analyse, and advise on detailed specifications for suitable materials or processes to be used.
Carry out design-stage risk assessments.
Administer contracts and project certifications.
Manage the work of architectural assistants/technologists and contribute to the overall running of the Practice.
Obtain feedback from clients and building end users, reporting on the performance of the contractors once construction is completed.
Participate in internal design reviews to improve the standard of the Practices work.
Offer guidance and mentorship to junior colleagues as and when required.
About you
Will hold a recognised Qualification in Architecture
A proven knowledge and understanding of AutoCAD are essential and some prior experience of Revit preferable.
Evidenced proficiency of Adobe Creative suite including Photoshop and InDesign.
Proficiency of Microsoft Office suite
Proficiency with SketchUp useful but not required.
Good drawing, design and presentation skills.
Good communication and organisational skills.
Willingness to collaborate, innovate and to learn.
Knowledge of UK Planning Policy and Building Regulations essential
Understands the implications of time on cost; able to compromise where necessary
Attention to detail
Driving license preferred but not essential
