Job description
This AJ100 architectural practice known for creating intelligent and purposeful mid-large scale residential, mixed use and build-to-rent projects has a rare and potentially golden opportunity for a Landscape Architect with the drive and career aspiration to grow, develop and eventually run a Landscape Architecture department. Initially this position will be on a part-time, ad-hoc or freelance basis (PAYE or LTD), maybe 1-3 days per week, delivering landscape architecture packages for existing schemes, and venturing into new schemes.
Employing around 50 people, this UK design practice offers a hybrid collaborative working environment with a personable, friendly, diverse, and supportive management team. The existing teams will perform a lot of the drawing and documentation required; however, they are missing the landscape expertise in-house, and have relied upon external assistance for these package works. Their schemes often require input into both hard & soft landscaping to include planting, urban greening and biodiversity, public realm works, green spaces, street furniture, parking, communal gardens, pavements and more.
This position would suit a Landscape Architect returning to work from paternity/maternity leave, a freelance Landscape Architect with additional capacity for 1-3 days per week working in parallel with their own private projects, or a Landscape Architect who wants to start slowly because of family commitments.
The successful Landscape Architect is likely to have career aspirations of starting this department slowly, working with existing teams to develop a pipeline of work, growing the department, and ultimately running this side of the business in years to come, therefore a long-term vision would be helpful.
