The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of projects independently, maintaining agreed standards within the project teams, and providing assistance to the Head of Design to improve the overall performance of the practice. This role requires a collaborative approach, with a focus on advancing the quality of early design stages and encouraging the development of junior team members within the studio. The Design Director will also play an integral role in managing and supporting the design team during the Pre Concept and Concept Design stages of projects, while effectively communicating original design principles to the delivery teams.
The responsibilities of the Design Director include managing large-scale projects during the Pre Concept and Concept Design stages, collaborating with senior management to establish resource time and cost targets, and supporting the development and implementation of existing processes. Additionally, the Design Director will provide focus and support for the continued development of design at the practice, and will lead and liaise with clients, project managers, sub consultants, local authorities, and other relevant stakeholders in the execution of projects
